For over 30 years I have enjoyed helping people as a Psychotherapist, Coach, and Hypnotherapist. Currently, my practice is located in Palo Alto, California. Prior to coming to Palo Alto, California in 1989 I lived and worked in Chicago, Illinois.
My work experiences are varied and include a variety of settings. In addition to years of private practice, I was part of a team on an inpatient psychiatric unit in a hospital and have consulted to many large Silicon Valley companies for stress management, job layoffs, and anger prevention. Publishing several books has allowed me to speak to a diverse group of people.
As a result of many years of experience, my belief is that the holistic model of therapy — involving the mind, body, and spirit creates lasting change. When working with clients I tailor each situation to best help them reach their goals. It always fascinates me as over time clients begin to trust their inner strengths and succeed in making positive changes.
In recent years, brain research has demonstrated new ways in mental health treatment to help people change negative thinking, painful feelings, and responses to events that cause emotional pain and suffering.
Besides offering individual counseling for individuals, couples, and families, I have special training in group therapy and hypnotherapy. One of my favorite ways to help clients is by offering groups and workshops.
Mindfulness — Stop needless suffering
Mindfulness gives you the power to choose to not react as in the past. Instead, you can choose to change your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The good news is when this happens, much suffering and pain is eliminated and you are able to remain calm. Anxiety, self-criticism, depression, addictions, and shame are replaced with happiness, self-assurance, feeling more alive, healthier relationships and overall success.
Outside of my therapy practice, my interests include:
- Helping people “Be Their Best”
- Being with family and friends
- Painting and photography
- Tennis, walking, dancing, yoga stretching
- Nature – being outdoors, travel
- Music – classical and jazz
- Perennial Learner
